Samuel M. Walker (@samuel_walker_art) Samuel joins us on the Black Superheroes Matter Podcast. Samuel Walker is a Brooklyn born and raised artist who has been dedicated to the creation of art that reflects both science and social justice perspectives. If you asked him what the subject matter of his work was, he would say “ black women !“ if you asked the genre he would say “ afrofuturism!” He says, “because of the quarantine, things that used to take big studios to do are all gonna be done in their house anyway. People are gonna figure out ways to do it.”
Time Stamps from the podcast:
3:16-3:22 “Time is created so you can always put the time into whatever you want to do”
9:08-9:28 “I almost always excessively work with freeware nowadays so Blender, or Sketchbook. You know most of the programs that I use are free and that’s just something that people couldn’t really do on an indie level a couple of years ago”
12:28-12:46 “The overarching thing that I’m trying to do which is like Afrofuturism which is just about the art and not just about the design or creation but about this kind of idea of what to do with those things, you know?”
15:45-15:58 “The Corona virus is very existential to me because it kind of changes how we deal with creating these things and then sharing them, you know?”
18:38-19:01 “The comic that I’m working on right now, Afrotech, the ultimate goal is to sort of have this image of the future, you know? And everything that I’m working on or thinking about is always this image of the future.”

Hey, this is Steve. I played football at Oregon State University and University of Hawaii. Now I doodle cartoons and blow stuff up on camera. I also make web comics too. Hopefully I can make this whole thing a full time gig so I can make the big bucks to pay for Medical School!
